Why Love School Exists
Most of the people who find Love School have already tried other things and explored other (mainstream) pathways. They may have been through therapy, read the books, and done the courses. And something still wasn't quite right, or the relief didn't last, or the approach didn't feel like them.
They've likely been to the doctor and been offered medication. They've been given a diagnosis and feel they were misdiagnosed. They may have sat with a therapist who worked from a framework that treated them as broken, disordered, or in need of management. And something about all of that didn't fit, or it helped for a while and then stopped, or it made things worse.
Love School was built from inside that experience. Terri Lee-Shield, who founded Love School, did not recover through the medical system. She recovered by doing the opposite, by turning toward her own experience, developing her own understanding, and learning to trust the natural intelligence of her own body, mind, and spirit to guide the way. She created Love School after her own recovery journey and built this space from real experience. The methods she shares here are from years of research, exploration and tried and tested experimentation. She shares what works, suggests areas to explore and explains why. Courses include the tool she has found or developed herself, sharing practices and skill-building through content created by her from her own experience or through other trusted mentors.

The Core Philosophy & Belief
At Love School, the foundational understanding is this: we stay ill and stuck when we fear, avoid, suppress, or are numbed to our own emotional and internal experience. Recovery requires turning toward what is real in our inner world, facing the reality of our experiences and becoming aware of it, and choosing to process it ourselves.
This is why outsourcing recovery to institutions, authorities, labels, or substances can interrupt rather than support genuine healing. When we are not the ones doing the work of knowing ourselves, we do not develop the capacity to thrive independently. We remain dependent.
Love School is about developing that capacity through presence, building discernment and personal sovereignty; learning to fish, rather than always being fed.
This is also why the methods here involve emotion and energy directly. These are not peripheral aspects of recovery; they are central to it. Emotional experience, energetic state, and spiritual awareness are not things to be managed or medicated away. They are the terrain of genuine healing.
We must know and not fear our own mind, be responsible for our thoughts. We must feel our emotions, embrace our body to meet our needs. We must be accountable for where we go and who we spend time with. And most of all, we can trust ourselves to learn how to embody and do this type of real healing and transformational change ourselves.
The Ecosystem Mindset
At the heart of everything at Love School is a simple but profound idea: we are not separate from the world around us. We are part of an ecosystem.
Just as a plant can't thrive if the soil, light, water, and environment aren't right, human beings can't fully heal by addressing only one dimension of their experience. That's why Love School considers interconnected areas of life:
Body - Exploring physical health, nervous system regulation, rest, nourishment, movement, nature connection and how we nurture ourselves and recover physically.
Mind – Understanding thought patterns, beliefs, conditioning, shadow work, and developing critical thinking.
Emotions – Developing emotional intelligence and processing our internal, felt experiences.
Energy – Increasing our vitality, understanding power dynamics and building a sense of personal sovereignty, confidence and alignment.
Spirit - Exploring and developing our intuition, integrity, spiritual exploration of the non-physical aspects of life, universal law, morality, sacred intelligence, philosophies of living, creativity, understanding karma, soul evolution, authentic expression, life purpose.
Relationships - Understanding how we connect with others, develop intimacy, build trust, learn communication skills, explore boundaries, relational healing, and unmasking.
Environment – Learning how the places, communities, circumstances, and systems we inhabit and co-create affect us, how we can improve them to meet our needs and access spaces that serve us best.
True recovery happens when we tend to all of these, not just one.
The Methods We Use
Life Design: A structured, practical approach to gathering personal data, mapping where you are and creating a plan and strategy towards where you want to be, and how to get there. Creating a supportive lifestyle using your own wisdom rather than following someone else's plan. Useful for anyone who feels overwhelmed by where to begin, confused about what helps or will work for them or who has never learned self-care habits.
Shadow Work: The process of exploring the hidden, suppressed, or disowned parts of ourselves. Uncovering and changing the beliefs, behaviours, and emotional patterns formed in response to pain or trauma. Shadow work at Love School is grounded in practical skill-building.
Somatic Awareness: Learning to listen to the body as a source of wisdom and healing. Recognising how trauma lives in the body and how to release it through movement, breath, expression, and presence.
Emotional Processing: Understanding emotions as information rather than problems. Learning to feel fully, express honestly, and move through difficult emotions rather than suppressing or externalising them.
Creative Expression: For many people who come to Love School, creativity has been suppressed or disconnected from their identity. Reconnecting with creative expression, in whatever form it takes, is often a significant part of the healing journey.
Nature Connection: Love School is rooted in the understanding that our relationship with the natural world is not optional; it is part of what we are. Reconnecting with nature, natural rhythms, and natural intelligence is woven throughout the approach.
Energy and Power Dynamics Awareness: Understanding the energetic dimension of our relationships, patterns, and circumstances. Seeing how we are conditioned through victimisation or coercive control, manipulation and creation of false authorities. Expanding personal capacity and developing genuine self-trust and empowerment.
Natural Medicine or Holistic Therapy: Some courses and content at Love School include exploration of supplements, natural remedies, and alternative approaches to physical health. These are offered as education, not a prescription. Anyone exploring natural medicine is encouraged to research thoroughly and apply personal discernment.
What Love School is Not
Love School is not a clinical service. Terri Lee-Shield is not a therapist, psychologist, or medical practitioner. The content at Love School is educational and designed to support self-understanding, self-directed healing, and personal growth.
Love School does not diagnose, treat, or prescribe. It does not claim to cure. What it does is offer a philosophy of life, frameworks, guidance, tools, and community that have supported building skills and provided real transformation for many people. Including recovery from symptoms associated with CPTSD, chronic health conditions, anxiety, depression, addiction, and long-term relational trauma.
Love School is not religious. It is non-dogmatic and respects each person's unique path.
Who Thrives at Love School
You are likely to find Love School deeply useful if:
You feel that mainstream approaches haven't fully addressed your experience. You are highly sensitive, intuitive, creative, or neurodivergent. You prefer to learn at your own pace and in your own way. You are drawn to natural, holistic ways of living. You want to understand the root of your patterns, not just manage symptoms. You are ready to take an active role in your own healing. You are open to exploring body, mind, and spirit as interconnected.
Who This is Genuinely For
You will find Love School useful if you have already decided that the medical model, psychiatric frameworks, or pathology-based approaches are not the path you want to follow. You don't need to have been harmed by those approaches; you may simply have known from the start that they were not for you. We can also support people recovering from any damage from those pathways and recovering from systemic or institutional oppression, neglect or abuse.
You are likely a good fit if you: identify as highly sensitive, neurodivergent, creative, intuitive or spiritual; are drawn to natural and holistic ways of living; want to understand the root of your patterns, not just manage their symptoms; are ready to take full responsibility for your own recovery; are open to the idea that emotions, energy and spirit are real and relevant to healing; and are willing to do the work of genuinely facing your experience.
Who Love School May Not Be Right For
Love School may not be for you if you are fixed on ideas about your identity and do not want to explore other ways of relating to yourself. If you use labels and diagnoses to refer to yourself or others, you are assigning a reality to them. Shifting identity work, releasing ideas and removing ego attachments to labels are part of our process, and our work can not function without the willingness to explore this. We can support people who are questioning, open to looking at this and moving through a process of detaching from this type of condoning.
Love School is also not the right fit if you are looking for a diagnosis or a prescriptive programme where someone tells you exactly what to do. This space is for people ready to explore, to grow, and to take responsibility for their own recovery journey. It is not for people looking for surface-level or quick-fix solutions. The work here is deep, real, and takes time. It is for people who are ready for that.
Who This is Not for
Love School is not designed for people who are currently on psychiatric medication, engaged in pathology-based therapy, or intending to continue those approaches alongside this work. The processes here require full awareness of your emotional and energetic experience, and are not designed to be combined with pharmaceutical or institutional interventions.
It is also not for people in acute crisis or emergency. If that is where you are, please seek appropriate support first.
The Love School Promise
We are so confident in this approach that we offer a full refund to anyone who completes a course, follows the process, and does not experience meaningful improvement.
Each course or service offers specific outcomes you are expected to achieve through the process.

A note on Natural Medicine and Supplements
Some content at Love School includes guidance on natural supplements and alternative physical health approaches. These recommendations may not be appropriate for people on certain medications. This is another reason Love School is designed for people who have already stepped outside the pharmaceutical framework, not for safety reasons alone, but because the whole approach functions as an integrated system that works best without those interventions in the mix.
