Course Synopsis
As part of the Shadow Work Series, our Inner Child & Reparenting Course is a profound part of recovery.
It invites you to connect with and understand lost parts of yourself, facilitating healing and evolution toward becoming a healthy, whole adult who can lead the life you choose.
Reparenting is a process that involves becoming aware of the early influences our parents had on us and choosing whether those influences are helpful for the adults we've become. It also includes meeting and reparenting the aspects of our wounded inner child that were rejected, disregarded, or oppressed as we grew up in families and institutions with certain expectations.
Part of this process is to then meet and reparent the aspects of our wounded inner child that were rejected, disregarded or oppressed as we grew in families and institutions that had expectations of us.
In this course, you will explore your parenting, choose the kind of parent you want to be, and then reparent yourself (as an adult) and your inner child as you realign with the fullness of your experience and all you can be.

Answers to the most common questions about inner child healing & reparenting work
We all have wounds caused in childhood that can affect us in later life. Sometimes they affect us more than others. Some wounds are deeper than others.
If you suffer from any common mental health problem, such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, complex post trauamtuc stress (PTSD or CPTSD). If you have any neurodiverse conditions, such as ADHD, ASD or ADD, or chronic conditions such as Chronic Fatigue, MS or Fibromyalgia, you will most likely have inner child wounds. The symptoms of these conditions and additional stress or emotional dysregulation related to developmental disorders are manifestations of those original childhood wounds.
If you were bullied as a child, lost a close family member, or moved house or schools. If you experienced childhood emotional negelct or have rejection sensitivity.
As children, we are vulnerable to our environments much more than when we are adults, and we are also resilient. We may not realise that the coping mechanisms or childhood logic applied to our beliefs and ideas about life at the time when we are young are actually unhelpful in adulthood.
Inner child wounds can be caused by our parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts or uncles, teachers, mentors, coaches, friends, classmates, or any figure of authority.
We reparent because our parents are not perfect, and they all make mistakes.
We reparent because life, society, our needs and how we are required to function and the roles we adopt all change as we grow and are different to when we were first parented when we were young.
Yes, is the short answer.
There are ways of healing without facing our past. However, when we have repeating or learned patterns based on early conditioning, we are required to address the root cause to find the deeper healing we crave.
Avoiding, ignoring, repressing or oppressing our emotions, trauma responses and hurts are what cause the troubles and symptoms we face. They are based on meanings and fears related to us being children. A competent, developed adult does not need to avoid or fear their emotions or memories that can not harm them. Having these patterns is an indicator of the need to address them and outgrow the childhood perspective we still hold.
It is part of growing, healing and recovering to address the pains of our past, learn from them (clean them up) to heal.
